Local Time
The official time in Cyprus is two hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time.
Climate
The average temperature at Lemesos (Limassol) in November ranges between
24oC and 15oC. In November there is an average of seven hours of bright
sunshine per day and the mean number of days with rain is 7 days. The
average sea temperature for the month of November is 23oC.
Clothing and Activities
- Days are pleasantly warm in November, but temperatures may fall a bit
at night.
- Medium–weight apparel. Light Woollies.
- Sunbathing and even swimming can still be enjoyed, as well as most
outdoor sports.
Sunrise and Sunset Times
Sunrise: 06:20 and Sunset: 16:45, (night falls within 30 minutes after
sunset).
Electricity
The supply in Cyprus is 230 volts, a.c.50Hz. Sockets are usually 13 Amp,
square-pin in most buildings. Most hotels provide adaptors upon request
from the reception.
Local Currency
The official currency is the Cyprus Pound - CYŁ, which is divided into
100 cents. Exchange rates (selling by Banks) are as follows (these rates
were applicable on the 1st September 2006 and are given as an indication
only): Euro €1=CYŁ0,59, Sterling Ł1=CYŁ0,89
Bank Hours
08:15 - 13:15 from Monday to Friday.
Credit Cards
Visitors in possession of any international credit cards e.g. Visa Card,
Diners Club, Master Card, American Express, Visa Electron and Maestro
may withdraw cash 24 hours from any ATM machine at the appropriate Bank.
Lost Credit Cards In case of credit card loss, please call JCC Payment Systems Ltd., on
+357 22 86 81 00 AND contact your bank either in Cyprus or in your home
country.
Business Hours
Shops are generally open from Monday to Friday from 8:00 – 13:00 and
from 14:30 – 18:30. On Wednesdays and Saturdays shops close at 14:00
hours.
Shopping
Locally produced items, which are popular to visitors, include leather
goods, woven goods, ceramics, copperware, handmade silverware and
jewelry, baskets, and the famous traditional hand–made Lefkaritika lace.
Cyprus wines and spirits, which have been
famous for centuries, are also high on visitors’ shopping lists which
may be also be purchased at the airport’s departure lounge.
